BE RICH SPECIFIC DIRECTIONS

In December each year, we focus on a way that we can Be Rich (In good, deeds that is - see 1 Tim 6:18) with our time, our energy and our money. The Christmas Outreach is our focus this year and what a wonderful opportunity it is. To start, thank you for putting your name on the sign up sheet and joining the team that we are sending from The STORY. I don’t want to overwhelm you with information so I’ll simplify this as best I can. There are a wide variety of opportunities to serve but, as a church, I’d like to focus our adults on a greatly needed and high impact role - the Family Guide. For those who are older teens, they can serve in a variety of roles in the Kids Area. The younger teens can do as they did last year and serve as gift runners. If there are teens that are interested in serving, please let me know.
Family guides will lead families through the evening's schedule which include simple conversation, dining with the family, helping them walk through the area where they get gifts for their children (and more). I did this last year and it is not difficult. The time slot for this is from 4:30-9:30 pm. There is a mandatory training for ALL VOLUNTEERS on December 8th from 6:30-8:00 pm at the First Baptist Wylie Event Center (use rear entrance on the opposite side of building from Ballard). If you absolutely, positively cannot make this meeting, contact me. If you have small children, my recommendation is to find a babysitter for that night as serving on this night doesn’t really lend itself to having small children with you (if you have questions with this, let me know). What I need from you is to respond and act swiftly (today or tomorrow preferably). Go to http://www.thebridgeconnection.org/christmas-outreach.html then click Register To Volunteer and then click Volunteer. After you do this, look for both the training and the role you are signing up for and register for both. As you do this, make sure that you put in there that you are with The STORY Church. After you’ve signed up (whether for the family guide or another role), please email me. You might still have questions but know that your questions will be answered and you will have a memorable time. With that, you will do this as a member of the The Body of Christ which is part of the greatest movement in the history of the world. If you know others who you feel would love to participate in this, INVITE THEM ALL to do this with The STORY. It is a great way to help people see what we are all about. MORE IMPACT
Another aspect of this is that we have an opportunity to impact these families on a more personal level. The gifts for that night come from people just like you and me who go to an Angel Tree, select a card with a persons name off a tree (locations listed on page 2) and then go purchase the gifts. Everyone, bring these gifts to our church gathering on Sunday, September 10th. PLEASE bring your gifts in a way that they can easily be transported together (with the card that has name and information). FYI: This is a wonderful thing to do as a family or with friends. As part of this, I’m looking for volunteers who are able to deliver the gifts to the Bridge Connection on one of the times they are sorting gifts (you can see the times where you see the volunteer roles as well). If you are able to deliver, please let me know.
