3-week Connect Opportunity

A 3-WEEK OPPORTUNITY FOR THOSE WHO, IN WORLD OF TROUBLE, BELIEVE THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH MATTERS.

Theme: Focus

So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.   Colossians 3:1–3

Distractions threaten to pull us in so many directions, blurring our focus so that we lose sight of what’s most important. We worry about personal problems, we are concerned about the difficulties facing the culture and the church. Factions threaten to fracture our church’s unity. Chaotic voices clamor for our attention. To lead well in our homes in our church, we must re-center our gaze—re-focus our attention—on our purpose for doing ministry.

FOCUS ON THE MASTER

Why do we lead and serve? It’s worth remembering that our job is not to promote or make a name for ourselves, but to champion the person and work of Jesus. Is he the focus of our ministry? Is he the center of everything we do? Do we point people to Christ?

“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” Colossians 3:2

FOCUS ON THE MESSAGE

If Christ is our focus, his gospel must be our message. We tend to look at success through a haze of numbers or expanding influence, but the real triumph is when lives are changed through the good news of salvation. Is the cross the focus of our teaching, preaching, ministries and relationships?

“. . . but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to the Jews and foolishness to the Gentiles.” 1 Corinthians 1:23

FOCUS ON THE MISSION

Jesus gave his followers a mission—to make disciples. They preached the gospel worldwide and so must we, starting at home, in our culture and in our church. They also met the needs, both spiritual and physical, of those they encountered. We too must strive for a holistic approach to serving. How are we embodying Christ in our community and world?

“Then he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.” Luke 9:2 CSB

FORMAT

We will spend 25-30 minutes listening to strong leaders speaking powerful and engaging truths we all need to hear. We will spend the rest of our time enjoying conversation that is relevant and enriching to our lives.
